During this time of uncertainty, some of our staff have set themselves a few goals to keep life as normal as possible over the next few months:
Neil
“During this unprecedented time, while having to work from home, I want to achieve several things. First for the business, I will be writing a revised business plan, and planning new ways of doing things in order to better service our clients and our employees. On a personal note, this will allow me to spend more time with my young family and to take a little pressure of Claire my wife, to assist with the cooking, cleaning and helping with the kids schoolwork, something which I have to admit I have been very poor at in the past. However it has only been a few days and it has made me so happy to see how much Kyan and Freya enjoy learning (even if I have to keep using Google to help me!). I will also use the time when I am usually traveling to and from work to, help me achieve my yearly goal of cycling 8000 miles, even if it is on an indoor trainer.”
Charlie
“We live in very strange times at the moment. The most important thing is that as a business we look after all of our candidates by ensuring we can help them by being on call to answer any questions they have regarding their sites, future work and government support. We are making sure that we have work in place for our operatives so when we do come out on the other side we can resume normality quickly. Personally, it’s just my wife and my dog at home. We are being careful to follow government guidelines so we are taking the dog out once a day and going to the supermarket here and there. With both my sister and brother in law working as doctors for the NHS, I feel it is my duty to volunteer and I have signed up to help the national effort! I was trying to lose weight at the beginning of this year but I have to confess that this period of quarantine is no good for my diet so it may have to be put on pause along with most things for now!”
Tom
“Whilst these are hard and uncertain time, I plan on setting a few business and personal targets whilst being at home from home. It’s essential to make the most from the extra time I have and use it to my advantage. Starting off I will be dissecting my business strategy for 2020 and analysing things I have done well and segments that need improvement on, it will help ensure I have successful year. This will help add value and longevity to my clients, contractors on site and the overall service I provide at ALC.
Whilst carrying this out it will help ensure I have more time to do carry out a few personal goals that I set out earlier this year and put them into good practice. First is to get back into shape and start training for my half marathon that I aim to complete at the end of this year, I aim on running a course every day to start my preparation. My second is to better myself at cooking and learning new recipes & techniques in the kitchen. Hopefully this will enable a better diet for my training & work life. Plus it results in eating less pizza at the pub after work with my colleagues!”
Agie
“Over the next few weeks, I intend to take count of where I am both personally and professionally, and what steps I can make to improve myself in both regards. While working from home, I hope to find ways of streamlining some of our processes, so we as a company can perform even more efficiently when things get back to normal. I will also take the opportunity to improve on the skills and knowledge needed in my role, from learning more about the industry and recruitment in general, to getting a better grip on social media.
Personally, I am hoping to use this downtime to relax and enjoy the simpler things. There is a long list of activities I have been meaning to do for a while, but never seemed to have the time to start. There is a wonderful back garden to play in, a pile of books to be read, and a piano to finally practice on! And of course, staying in contact with family and friends – we all need that right now!”
Kelly
“During these uncertain times and whilst I will not be working, I want to achieve several things, especially as I will have some time on my hands. I am new to the recruitment industry so I would like to take some time to study and build on my skill set, not just recruitment but I would like to brush up on my technology skills, so I can be more efficient when I am back in the office. I have a daily plan in place to stick to a routine and keep things as normal as possible. Another interest of mine I am enjoying is practising yoga on a daily basis, I forgot how much energy it gives me. I am also keen to learn how to cook in this time off due to my limited culinary skills and I have a stack of recipe books that I have never read, so this is a mini project of mine.”
Corey
“Due to the difficult times we are all currently enticed in, I have decided to set a few new Business and Personal goals that I look to achieve whilst working from home. I will be looking to re-evaluate my business plan, this being so I can achieve better servicing for my clients which will help create long term stronger relationships. Whilst I will be looking to maintain a foothold with my clients, I will also look to add a few personal goals of my own.
My main goal is to fully recover from the Scaphoid surgery I have recently taken (rugby injury unfortunately) as a regular gym goer, even though this will take me a while to lift weights, I can partake in regular fitness programmes which I have created at home. Secondly and Thirdly would be to read a lot more, remove the TV out of the equation and open the books. Also to help my old man keep up with his allotment as it means quite a lot to him.”
